Drama series (1999 - present) featuring Amy Brenneman as the eponymous judge (also the show's creator and executive producer), a recently divorced single mom who has moved back to her old hometown, Hartford, Connecticut, to become a juvenile court judge. The show also stars Tyne Daly (well-known as Detective Lacey from Cagney and Lacey) as her opinionated mother, a social worker. "Judging Amy, which is based on the real-life experiences of Brenneman's own mother, a superior court judge, is about three generations of women living together as they confront the personal and professional dilemmas in their changing lives."
