John starred as Estragon in a production of Waiting for Godot, by Samuel Beckett, at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles. The play was directed by Andrew J. Robinson, and also starred Gregory Itzin, Alastair Duncan and Granville Van Dusen. It opened on Saturday February 19th, 2000, and ran until April 30th, 2000. Each part was alternated between two actors (Robin Gammell also played Estragon). "Waiting for Godot" is a two-act tragicomedy featuring two men who spend the entire performance waiting for the mysterious Godot, who never appears. The play was an innovation in drama, and is considered the first theatrical success of the Theatre of the Absurd.
